I want to be a
GREAT Grandpa
Nothing Good Happens on Accident

About the Book
I Want to Be a Great Grandpa: Nothing Good Happens on Accident is a book about living and leading in a way that outlasts us — building a life of purpose, faith, and intentional legacy.
I’ve always believed that leadership isn’t about position — it’s about purpose. This book was born out of that belief, and out of a single question that changed the way I see my life:
“If I want to be the best grandpa someday, I have to start becoming him
today.”
It’s a collection of stories and lessons drawn from the runway, the classroom, and the quiet moments where God has shaped my heart. Each chapter follows a rhythm: it begins with a story, something real and personal, then moves into the research and reflection that give it depth. From there, it ends with practical application, a few steps readers can take to live out what they’ve just learned.
Together, these chapters weave faith, leadership, and intentional living into one message: growth is designed, not accidental, and legacy is built one intentional step at a time.
Why I’m Writing This?
Here’s the thing — I’m not an expert. I’m 24, still figuring life out. I’m not writing this book because I’ve mastered everything in it. I’m writing it because I need it. I need to see it on the shelf to remind myself who I want to be and how I want to live. I need it so I can pick it up every year and remember where I’m going.
Writing this book has become part of my own design cycle — learning, reflecting, and trying again. It’s built around the same questions I ask my students and our team at Leaders of Today:
What went well? What can we improve? What did we learn that will help someone else?
Through those questions, God’s been teaching me that leadership and faith grow the same way — through small, consistent steps. Every chapter is a reflection of that process. I’m not writing because I have it all together; I’m writing because I want to live these things out with intention.
Yes, I want to be successful in my career. Yes, I want to impact my community and maybe even the world. But my real goal?
I want to be the best grandpa possible.
Why a Grandpa?
Because being the best grandpa means I was first a great husband, a great father, and a man of faith.
It means I was healthy enough to crawl on the floor with my grandkids, strong enough to walk out into a field to watch them play sports, and energetic enough to play with them all day. It means I was financially wise enough to take them on trips like my grandparents did with me — and generous enough to buy them ice cream (and let’s be honest, to buy some for myself too).
It means I lived a life full of intention, not accident.

Faith at the Center
At the center of everything I write is my faith in Jesus.
He’s the reason I lead, the reason I serve, and the reason I believe in purpose over position. My prayer is that this book points people back to Him — to the peace, strength, and direction that only He can give.
“You don’t have to be fully ready to be called, you just have to be willing.”
